gender and pronouns for sprites
I'm back baby!!!!!!!!
I had a thought right when it's my bedtime. I did a doodle of Yarrow that Sam pointed out it looked like he was wearing a long skirt and I decided ya he would wear those on days he's not climbing trees or going far. It's his lounge wear...
And we were saying how human gender norms wouldn't exist for the sprites. And my big brain thought was just that like... Yarrow and Yew were really the only ones in each other's lives until he moved to find his own territory. And I'm like. They would never have had to really use pronouns for each other cuz you only use them when you're talking about someone to someone else... So Yarrow wasn't really ever a he/him until he moved to nearby a human town and I guess he started hearing people talking about him and assumed based on how he dressed and the short hair. And he doesn't really care either way lol. This just in: all sprites agender.
I guess in the rare circumstances they might need to refer to one another they'd just use their names. Like, in the event sprites run into each other or anyone else for that matter, they're probably not really chatting. So if it came up it would be like. I have a child called Yarrow. Or whatever. "They" doesn't feel right somehow... I'm not sure what pronouns they would use if they had to. Maybe they have their own sprite neopronoun lol. Sprite/sprites/spriteself... No not that but. I don't know.
Leaning towards like a ey/em/eirself type of thing if anything... Sort of still natural sounding but with an air of. Something ethereal maybe. And I think it works with their vague, English-but-not, travelled-all-over type of accent.
