yarrow's world

pixies + yew journey

I had another little thought about this -- the pixies delivering this dream to Yarrow.

He sees this dream in like, flashes, where scenes are imprinted on his mind. This came from The Worm Ouroboros again so I'm not being particularly original here. There are multiple places where Juss refers to his dream but particularly they reach one part of the journey:

"Here, too," said Juss, "my dream walked with me. And if it be ill crossing there where this stream breaketh into a dozen branching cataracts a little above the watersmeet, yet well I think 'tis our only crossing." So, ere the light should fade, they crossed that perilous edge above the water-falls, and slept on the green knoll.

So --- theoretically --- I'm thinking this meeting with the wizard, along with other stuff I'm sure happens, was actually foreseen by Yarrow in this dream. He recognises scenes from it as he experiences them. Pivotal parts of the journey. Which is cool because honestly I've been wondering how the hell he even gets there.

I don't really know why the pixies sent this dream to him but I figure they are divine creatures, as in, they are doing Gaea's bidding, I think. Which sort of implies that... God is Real... canonically? In this universe? I don't know. Gaea is a sort of energy in my mind, I think the source of magic, it is the Earth, not a physical entity, not a person.

I don't really know anything about the Gaia lore, as in, any version of mythology. But there is also this idea of the sky -- Mother Earth, Father Sky. There's the elements, Earth, Wind and Fire (and Water I guess 🙄). I could draw on that. I kind of like just Earth and Sky though -- like everything that is of Earth is Gaea, and everything out there, the sky, space, is not Earth. Maybe the inbetween -- wind, seasons, weather, light -- is seen as a meeting between Gaea and. Well I'm reading that Uranus is the son and husband of Gaia. I dunno about all that but some, yin to Gaea's yang. I don't know how humans or non-sprites view all this. I know that the imps believe in the Messiah which is their god or deity. I figure that's their name and belief system for what is essentially the same thing, which is how religion generally works.

So Gaea is essentially the sprite word for God (I'll have to think of something for the sky/space too), but it's also. An actual thing that exists, sorta kinda. I mean there is magic which is a sort of energy, a fifth element I guess, but it all comes from the earth, from Gaea. Or, actually, it can control any of the elements, so maybe it's not a fifth element, it's a different thing. It's like. The will of Gaea or something. It's the controlling of the earth's resources, in a sense. And there are different kinds, we've discussed this before -- Yarrow only has healing and protective abilities. His magic interacts with organic living matter. Pixies can control the intangible; influence dreams, influence luck and chance (curse people or I guess bless them, in a different sense to how sprites can). Wizards can conjure, um, uh. Okay, wizards can manipulate physical matter. As well as being able to create new, probably both animate and inanimate objects, they probably also have telekinesis. Command over atoms. I guess stuff is created from stuff. I dunno what domestic imps are made of lol. But I figure resources are needed --- can't create something from nothing. On that note, maybe some creature can control light, or, the intangible in another sense to how pixies can. Kind of like in the way Merlin (always comes back to Merlin...) he's able to create a sort of 'hologram', he makes a little dragon from a campfire.

Umm anyway all I really came here to say was about pixies and Yarrow's dream. lol.
