thoughts re bbc sherlock LOL
So... When I got into this podcast, Sherlock & Co., it had me kind of revisiting some of my memories of the bbc series which to be honest was a formative piece of media for me lol I know how it's technically bad and whatever but I've come back around to kind of appreciating it. The later... What was it, S3? The one where John and Mary get married. And Mrs. Hudson is saying to Sherlock how marriage changes people. I used to ship johnlock but nowadays I would fully see Sherlock as aroace. He's just like me fr. Anyway Mrs. Hudson says that and then later there's the wedding and Sherlock is like you two go dance (to John and Mary) and leaves the wedding reception early, without saying goodbye.... That is so tragic to me still lmao maybe moreso now than when I first saw it. No longer John's most important person. So anyway I love to steal, not really, but most of my little nuggets of oc inspiration either come from real life or from certain bits of media, tiny bits of plot or particular dynamics between people. This was, like, well Andy and Howard are in a QPR so this isn't gonna be a thing for them. So then my mind turned to Rees, poor Rees, so cool, so neglected. It's your time to shine. Rees is also aroace, and nonpartering. They're one-third of Mudpuppy, a band, with their two closest friends, Stan and Kat. Of course Kat meets Neve at whatever point and they're like, Niles and Daphne where Kat is Niles, pining for months to years, and when they do eventually get together they're absolutely insufferable. But Rees would still have Stan. And then Stan finds Christina... Now obviously I know how this ends but. At the time I think Rees would have really struggled with like, both of their closest friends being preoccupied with romantic relationships. Like I think both Kat and Stan recognise that amatonormativity is a thing but, still it's the less frequent texts and hangouts, the mention of whoever in every conversation... Everyone has their person. And Rees doesn't even want a Person but it's like. You know... I feel like they might kinda lie low for a while, become a little more withdrawn, hang out with their brother Liam. Who also has a girlfriend, Lori, but I feel they've known each other since the dawn of time so it's not so much at the forefront. Ok that's all I got
